Child Psychotherapy

Since children’s verbal expression skills are not yet as developed as those of adults, they express their feelings and thoughts through play — the language that is most natural and comfortable for them. Play is one of the most frequently used methods in child therapy.

In play therapy, a safe and supportive environment is created where the child can express themselves freely through toys. Beyond their limited verbal expression, children are often unaware of the emotions underlying their thoughts and behaviors, such as anxiety, fear, or sadness. Therapy aims to gradually uncover and make sense of these emotions.

Within this safe space, children have the opportunity to act out their unfulfilled needs, wishes, and potential solutions that they may not be able to express in the outside world. The therapist accompanies the child throughout this process, verbalizing what is expressed through play in accordance with the child’s unique story. With this support, the child begins to develop the capacity to express their inner thoughts, regulate their emotions, make sense of their experiences, and process them.

In this sense, play therapy provides psychological support and effective solutions for children in many areas, including grief, anxiety, trauma, social relationships, behavioral problems, peer bullying, introversion, and self-confidence.

Family is the first place where we begin to form our sense of self and identity. It is also where the initial patterns shaping our perception of the external world are established through recurring family dynamics. For this reason, the family is an integral part of the child therapy process. In addition to individual sessions with the child, parent meetings are held with the family at least once a month.
